Caprice D. Haverty, PhD, is a clinical and forensic psychologist and the Co-Executive Director of A Step Forward, Inc. (ASF). She created and directs ASF’s Sexual Harm Prevention Program, which intervenes and treats those with histories of sexual offending and sexual addiction. She also created the non-offending parent program. For over 30 years, Dr. Haverty has provided treatment for adult victims of childhood sexual abuse, individuals who have committed sexual assault (ISO), those struggling with sexual addiction, and non-offending parents. She also works with families and communities to facilitate re-entry and reconciliation for ISOs.
As a CASOMB (California Sex Offender Management Board) certified specialist, Dr. Haverty provides forensic evaluation and testimony and consults with organizations advocating for survivors and perpetrators of sexual assault. In 2008, she founded CORR (Community of Resource & Resolution), a no-cost, drop-in program for individuals with sexual behavior problems who are voluntarily seeking early intervention or aftercare.
Dr. Haverty co-authored the 2018 California Completion of Treatment Guidelines for ISOs. In early 2023, the Senate Rules Committee commissioned her to serve on the California Sex Offender Management Board where she represents those treating ISOs across the state. Dr. Haverty received her doctorate in psychology in 1989 after conducting original research on the differential symptoms of childhood physical and sexual abuse among incarcerated women.
