Tawny Williams, PsyD, obtained her Doctorate in Clinical Forensic Psychology with a concentration in Victimology from the California School of Forensic Studies at Alliant International University. Dr. Williams is passionate about working with at-risk-youth. She has over 13 years of experience working with adolescents and a special interest in working with youth and adults who sexually offend. She is California Sex Offender Management Board (CASOMB) certified and serves on the board of the California Coalition on Sexual Offending (CCOSO).

Prior to joining A Step Forward, Inc., she worked for the Division of Juvenile Justice in the Sexual Behavior Treatment Program providing services to youth who sexually offend. There she facilitated weekly court mandated groups, court mandated individual therapy, and family reintegration therapy. Additionally, Dr. Williams prepared discharge summaries and made recommendations on placement during Juvenile Board Hearings. She’s also had the unique opportunity to work with Sexually Violent Predators at Coalinga State Hospital, including those with pedophilia, sexual assault, exhibitionism, voyeurism, child pornography, and incest. Dr. Williams has co-facilitated sex offender treatment groups and has conducted violence risk assessments, along with a broad variety of psychological assessments.

Prior to her clinical work, Dr. Williams was employed as a Detention Service Officer with LA County Probation supervising at-risk-youth. During her six-year tenure, she worked as a mental health paraprofessional, often being called to consult as a member of a multidisciplinary team. This work provided a solid foundation and springboard for understanding the needs of the youth as well as the gaps in available services. She has been broadly trained and is acutely aware of the importance of law in the field of psychology.

Dr. Williams has an expansive skill set that transcends from juveniles to adults. She is committed to the fight against sexual violence and determined to bring humanity to treatment while doing it.
