Kimberly N. Dickson, PsyD (PSY 30316) is a licensed clinical Psychologist who has dedicated her career to working with youth and their families helping them collaborate in support of positive change. For the past twelve years, Dr. Dickson has been working at A Step Forward, Inc. (ASF) providing treatment to families, couples, and adolescents with a wide range of therapeutic needs, including sexual behavior problems. A California Sex Offender Management Board certified treatment provider, Dr. Dickson also provides psychological and forensic assessment, and expert court testimony and consultation to attorneys in their work with juvenile’s who have acted out sexually.

 

Prior to joining the ASF team, she worked as a childcare counselor, case manager, and therapist for the Northwest Children’s Home (NCH) in Idaho State. Through NCH, she joined with social services and the juvenile justice system in creating treatment plans to meet the needs of at-risk youth, including those with trauma histories and sexual behavior issues. In addition to her work in residential treatment, Dr. Dickson provided drug and alcohol treatment and family reunification therapy to both homeless and incarcerated mothers and their children. Later Dr. Dickson taught and tutored graduate students in the provision and interpretation of psychological testing.

 

Dr. Dickson’s commitment to treating youth and families is a natural fit given her love for creativity and light-hearted humor. She is passionate about the interplay of clinical assessment and treatment and loves using her talents for teaching and connecting to address the individual needs of her patients. Dr. Dickson considers it a privilege to enter the internal lives of her patients and seeks to convey this to them.
