Cynthia Zecic, EdD, LMFT has worked with Bay Area Mental Health agencies as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Drama Therapist since 2002. She provides individual and group psychotherapy to those struggling with substance abuse, and physical and sexual or emotional abuse. Dr. Zecic works with both perpetrators and victims of domestic violence as well as those who have committed sexual offenses. For many years she also worked with adults and minors involved in human sex trafficking. She is also a CASOMB (California Adult Sex Offender Management Board) certified sex offender treatment specialist. She has experience treating people from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, including incarcerated women, schoolchildren, foster youth, seniors, and LGBTQIA+ youth and adults.

 

Dr. Zecic facilitates the following types of groups: non-offending parents; adults who have committed sexual offenses; survivors of sexual abuse; grief and loss; domestic violence; and parent support and co-parenting. In addition, she has experience leading Drama Therapy groups and is trained in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) therapy. Dr. Zecic’s training and experience in Somatic and Trauma Body Centered Therapy has deepened her work with clients who have trauma backgrounds. She received her doctorate in Counseling Psychology in 2015 from Argosy University. In addition to her clinical work at A Step Forward, she has completed the Gottman Couples Training program. She is an expert in solution focused couples work including, The Relational Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
