Lyssabeth Mattoon, Ph.D. specializes in treating children, adolescents, adults and families for a range of traumatic experiences, including child abuse, incest, domestic violence, rape, divorce, and foster care, as well as family separation and reunification. Dr. Mattoon brings a global and multicultural perspective to her work, having crossed many borders to provide counseling in Germany, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. As a result, she often treats issues posed by human trafficking, adapting to a new country, hate crimes, natural disasters, and war. Dr. Mattoon works to empower trauma survivors and strengthen their attachments with loved ones by using culture-specific methods in her therapeutic interventions. These methods may include the expressive arts, sand tray, and play therapies, in addition to more traditional talk therapies.
