Cliff Owens, LMFT has worked for eleven years with several East Bay Non-Profits that serve children with behavioral issues and those who suffer from domestic violence. For the past three years, he taught domestic violence prevention classes at the West County Detention Facility and at a local re-entry site for the recently incarcerated. During that time, he provided individual therapy for people with histories of domestic violence, community violence, and sexual abuse.
Mr. Owens now works at ASF with both perpetrators and victims of sexual abuse in groups and individual therapy, as well as non-offending parents. He provides containment for men who have committed sexual offenses in collaboration with probation. To this end, he works with clients to develop insight and empathy for victims of abuse, and to create coping skills and relapse prevention plans. Mr. Owens is trained in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. He is a certified CASOMB (California Sex Offender Management Board) treatment specialist.
